A man with a fatal gunshot wound was discovered by first responders in a car outside a home on the 10200 block of South California Avenue on Jan. 31. He was found after firefighters were called to a fire at the home at 5:40 a.m., according to a police report from the 22nd District of the Chicago Police Department. A veteran member of the Chicago Police Department (CPD) has been selected to lead the 22nd District.

Commander Robert Hargesheimer, a 39-year member of the CPD, began his first day at the district on Jan. 24, approximately one month after the retirement of former Commander Mike Kuemmeth. Hargesheimer was assigned to the post by CPD Superintendent Garry McCarthy.
