A rash of burglaries was reported in North Beverly in August, according to a community alert issued on Aug. 27 by detectives in the Chicago Police Department’s Area South.
Police said five residential garages were reported, along with one residence.
A residence on the 9000 block of South Damen Avenue was burglarized on Aug. 17, police said, and jewelry and electronics were taken.
Garages on that block were also hit between Aug. 18-19, between Aug. 21-22 and on Aug. 25.
A garage on the 9000 block of South Hoyne Avenue was burglarized between Aug. 21-22, police said, and a garage on the 9000 block of South Hamilton Avenue was hit some time between Aug. 25-27.
Bicycles and lawn equipment were stolen from the garages, police said, after the offender entered by breaking a window.
All the thefts took place between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m., police said.
Police reminded residents to lock garage doors, as well as vehicles inside the garage, and they encouraged the installation of motion-activated lighting and alarm systems.
