The Church of Chicago will host a Men’s Gathering on Sept. 30, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. The event, “The Kingdom Man,” is open to all men and boys and will be held at Elim Evangelical Free Church, 10000 S. Kostner Ave., in Oak Lawn. Breakfast will be served.

The Church of Chicago will begin a new sermon series on Oct. 1 titled the “The Curse & the Cubicle.” The series will be held every Sunday at 11:40 a.m. Pastor David Spencer, senior pastor at the Church of Chicago, will present this multi-part series on faith and work.

Trinity Evangelical Covenant Church

The Pryme Tymers, an active fellowship that meets at Trinity Evangelical Covenant Church, 9230 S. Pulaski Road, in Oak Lawn, invites the community to its meeting on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m.

Detective Tom Cronin, of the Oak Lawn Police Department, will discuss updated safety procedures and answer questions about crime in the area.

At noon, a catered chicken luncheon will be served.

The cost is $7, and requires reservations by Friday, Sept. 22. A nonperishable canned good is also collected for the Blue Island Salvation Army food pantry.

Free flu shots for senior citizens will be administered from 10 to 11 a.m.

Vespers in the Pines

The Center, 12700 Southwest Highway, in Palos Park, ordinarily holds vespers services in the Wayside Chapel.

On Sunday, Sept. 24, at 12:30 and 4:30 p.m., guests will be able to drive the farm road back to the pines or park in the farm parking lot and stroll past The Center’s farm fields.

Guests are asked to bring a portable chair. Fellowship will be served in the pines as well.
