A 33-year-old man was charged with burglary and criminal trespass to a vehicle after, authorities said, he was arrested in Mt. Greenwood after returning a vehicle he had stolen.
Michael Urban, of the 5800 block of West Division Street, was arrested on the 10600 block of South Ridgeway Avenue at 10:22 a.m. on Aug. 6, according to the Chicago Police Department (CPD) Office of News Affairs.
Police said Urban returned the vehicle to the 73-year-old male owner, who said Urban had entered the victim’s residence on Aug. 3, between 3 a.m. and 4 p.m., and taken the keys to the vehicle, then took the vehicle from the man’s garage, along with other items.
Police said that on Aug. 4, at about 3:30 a.m., Urban burglarized a garage on the 10500 block of South Albany Avenue. Surveillance equipment recorded the incident, police said, and Urban was positively identified.
The burglary is a felony, police said, and the criminal trespass to a vehicle charge is a misdemeanor.
According to the CPD 22nd District, Urban is a convicted felon.
Records on the CPD website that go back to Jan. 1, 2014, show that he was also arrested on 106th Street and Ridgeway Avenue in September 2016 and charged with four counts of burglary and theft of less than $500.
