Turpin Cares

Turpin Cares will hold its third annual holiday drive from Friday, Nov. 29, to Tuesday, Dec. 24, to benefit local shelters, non-profit groups and people who are homeless. Turpin Cares distributes food, hygiene products and relief items to people in need on Chicago’s South Side.

Turpin Cares, a philanthropic non-profit organization sponsored in part by Turpin Communication, a Beverly-based firm, is running its third annual holiday drive at Starbucks, 1933 W. 103rd St.

The organization collects and distributes food, hygiene products and relief items to people in need on Chicago’s South Side. Recipients include individuals, shelters and other organizations.

Since last year’s drive, Turpin Cares has provided nearly 8,000 items to local people who are homeless or food/shelter insecure.

To support the drive, visit the Starbucks between Nov. 29 and Dec. 24 to choose an ornament that includes hand-written items the organization needs. Take the ornament, buy the items and return them to Starbucks before Christmas Eve. Turpin Cares will take care of the rest.

Cash donations placed in an envelope and marked for Turpin Cares will also be accepted.

“When I first got involved, I was shocked to learn how many people struggle to survive. The stories we hear from some of these individuals will break your heart,” said Olive Rogers, Turpin Cares founding member and Starbucks employee. “We’re thankful to Starbucks, both at the local level and the national level, for their ongoing support. And of course, we couldn’t have the impact we’re having without the generosity of our amazing Starbucks customers.”
