Four automobile thefts were reported in Morgan Park in November, according to a community alert issued by the Chicago Police Department (CPD).
Police said the crimes occurred during late-night hours in an area between 109th and 111th streets from Talman Avenue to Longwood Drive.
A vehicle was stolen at 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 7 on the 2100 block of West 110th Place, as well as between Nov. 10-16, at an unknown time, on the 11100 block of South Longwood Drive.
Another theft occurred between 7 and 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 16 on the 2300 block of West 111th Street, and a theft occurred at 1:10 a.m. on Nov. 24 on the 10900 block of South Talman Avenue.
In that crime, police said, a law-enforcement sport-utility vehicle was stolen; it belonged to a man who is with an agency outside the CPD, police said.
Police said two people were driving in a white sedan before that theft and were stopping to check car-door handles. One person entered the law-enforcement vehicle, then drove away with the white sedan trailing it. The stolen vehicle was seen later that day in Englewood.
Police reminded residents to keep vehicles locked, remove extra sets of keys from inside the vehicle and never leave cars unattended with the engine running.
