A rash of burglaries has occurred in North Beverly in August, according to a community alert issued by the Chicago Police Department’s Area South detectives on Aug. 27.
Police said five residential garages were targeted, along with one residence.
A residence on the 9000 block of South Damen Avenue was burglarized on Aug. 17, police said, and jewelry and electronics were taken.
Garages on that block were also targeted between Aug. 18-19 and between Aug. 21-22, and also on Aug. 25.
A garage on the 9000 block of South Hoyne Avenue was targeted between Aug. 21-22, police said, and a garage on the 9000 block of South Hamilton Avenue was burglarized some time between Aug. 25-27.
Bicycles and lawn equipment were stolen from the garages, police said, after an offender entered by breaking a window.
All the thefts took place between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m., police said.
Police reminded residents to lock garage doors, as well as any vehicles inside garages, and encouraged them to consider installing motion-activated lighting and alarm systems.
