The PLOWS Council on Aging will host Caregivers Connecting on Thursday, June 13, at 6 p.m., at the PLOWS Council on Aging Office, 7808 College Dr., in Palos Heights.
Caregivers assisting friends and/or family are invited to join this support group, which provides education, emotional support and social interaction in a safe environment. Participants are screened to ensure a good fit.
There is no charge for the sessions, which are held the second Thursday of the month.
Memory Cafe, a social gathering for people with dementia and other forms of cognitive impairment and their care partners, is held on the second Wednesday of every month through September at the Community Nutrition Network Site, 8925 S. Kostner Ave., in Hometown.
On June 12, the cafe will feature Larry Breidenbach singing music from the 1940s and up through the years, featuring classics from Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, Dean Martin, Tony Bennett, Andy Williams and more There is no charge for the event, and a complimentary lunch will be provided.
PLOWS will host Advocacy and Benefits Assistance on Tuesday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Worth Township, 11601 S. Pulaski Rd., in Alsip.
Applying for critical government-related benefits can be challenging and overwhelming. The staff at PLOWS can assist with services including Medicare Savings Program, SNAP/food stamps, senior health insurance, energy assistance, Medicare Part D and more.
The sessions are for adults 60 and older and persons with disabilities 18-59 years old. Sessions take place on the second Tuesday of every month. There is no charge.
Registration is required for these programs.
