An auto repair shop in Morgan Park has been shut down by the state, and an employee has been arrested three times in recent weeks for violations at the business.
Meineke Car Care Center, 10716 S. Western Ave., has signage on its front door issued by the Illinois Department of Revenue stating that the business’ certificate of registration is revoked.
Anyone who engages in business there, the signage warns, will be guilty of a Class A misdemeanor.
Kevin Moriarty, 63, who is listed on the Better Business Bureau website as the manager of the business, was arrested on the block where the business is located on Nov. 7, Nov. 4 and Oct. 28, according to the Chicago Police Department.
All three times, he was charged with a violation of a closure order and failure to have a license required for a motor vehicle repair shop.
The morning of Nov. 7, police said, he was also charged with resisting a peace officer after responding officers saw him operating the business without a license.
After the first two arrests, Moriarty was released on a $120 cash bond.
According to CPD information that dates to the beginning of 2014, Moriarty was also arrested on the block on which the business is located in May 2014 and charged with battery and aggravated assault.
