Members of Miracles Happen Baseball enjoy the moment on Oct. 5 at Mt. Greenwood Park. This edition featured an Oktoberfest theme, and 40 youths and adults with special needs took part. Over the last 14 years, Miracles Happen Baseball has given participants the excitement of hitting the ball off a tee and circling the bases in the atmosphere of an all-star game. Volunteer “buddies” guide the players, who are announced as they come to the plate. Committee members Katie Kettering, Nancy Cranston, Mary Sullivan and Angie Torres credited many volunteers for helping, including Mo Walsh, Len and Joan Zielinski, “buddies” from local schools, the Fr. Perez Council of the Knights of Columbus and Kevin Cranston, who has announced the play-by-play and commentary for many years. The next game will be in June 2020.
