Evergreen Park Recreation Department’s FantaSciFest

Volunteers Tim Broniec (from left), Tommy Jakubczak, Brianna Mooney, Natalie Danilos, Andrew Kenny and Sandy Stacy prepare for the Evergreen Park Recreation Department’s FantaSciFest to be held on Saturday, Feb 22. For more information, visit evergreenpark-ill.com.

The Evergreen Park Recreation Department will host FantaSciFest on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Evergreen Park Senior Center, 9547 S. Homan Ave.

The new event will feature vendor tables for artists/sellers who would like to display or sell their artwork or merchandise of the genre being celebrated.

Daylong games of Dungeons and Dragons will be taught and played. A film screening room will be set up for programs to run throughout the day with topics and material to interest spectators of all ages.

Visitors are welcome to dress as a favorite character or a character of their own. These folks, called CosPlayers, can walk the festival all day and are invited to take part in a competition at 6 p.m.

A photo area will be provided for selfies with spectators. CosPlayers are reminded that this is a family-friendly event, and costumes must be appropriate. More events are being planned, and a full schedule of events will be posted closer to the show date.

Admission is free, and a refreshment tent will be located onsite.

The Evergreen Park Recreation Department is accepting registrations for artists and vendors. Booth rental is $30. Space is limited.
