The GFWC Beverly Hills Junior Woman’s Club is seeking community help in redeveloping the school library at John H. Vanderpoel Humanities Academy, 9510 S. Prospect Ave.

Vanderpoel has been without a school library for five years, but officials have pledged to reinstate it this school year. Books can open up new worlds for children and can create a love of learning at a young age.

With approximately 250 enrolled students, the Beverly Juniors have set a goal to collect 1,500 new and gently used books for grades kindergarten to eight, as well as for young adults. That is roughly five books per child for circulation.

The books should be in good condition with no tears, rips, stains or mold.

The collection will run through Friday, Sept. 13.
