According to university officials, an employee of St. Xavier University (SXU) tested positive for Covid-19.
SXU was notified on March 19, officials said, and beginning March 23, classes were moved to remote learning for the rest of the semester.
The employee has “very limited interaction with faculty, staff and students,” officials said, and had not been on campus the week prior.
The employee is “doing well,” officials said, and is quarantined at home with family.
“St. Xavier continues to diligently monitor the situation,” officials said, “and is taking significant measures to protect the health and safety of its community members.”
A student at St. Margaret of Scotland Elementary School, 9833 S. Throop St., also tested positive this month, as did a staff member at All Day Montessori, 1819 W. 99th St.
Schools statewide were ordered closed by Gov. J.B. Pritzker effective March 17.
