A night of bluegrass and Grateful Dead music is in store at the Beverly Arts Center (BAC), 2407 W. 111th St., when local favorite The Grateful String Band performs with special guest Wood Belly on Friday, Oct. 11, at 8 p.m.
Celebrating the sounds and soul of the Grateful Dead’s five-decade tenure, The Grateful String Band is Chicago’s premier “deadicated” bluegrass band.
With a repertoire full of Dead-related songs, The Grateful String Band’s infectious groove and inventive jams leave “Dead Heads” and bluegrass traditionalists alike cheering for more. Their unique performances have kept audiences entertained at venues across the Chicago area including the Cubby Bear, Brauerhouse, the Frankfort Bluegrass Festival and more.
Wood Belly blends traditional bluegrass with modern songwriting. Led by a pair of prolific songwriters, Wood Belly’s songs are carefully and collectively crafted to ring out with an honesty and passion that leaves audiences smiling and wanting more.
The group recently released its debut album, “Solid Ground,” to critical acclaim and won the prestigious 2018 Telluride Bluegrass Festival band competition.
