“Skipping Christmas,” by John Grisham, will be the monthly book with a movie tie-in discussion in American Sign Language (ASL), on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The discussion will be facilitated by an ASL-fluent librarian.

Imagine a year without Christmas: no crowded malls, corny office parties, fruitcakes or unwanted presents. In “Skipping Christmas,” that’s just what Luther and Nora Krank have in mind when they decide that, just this once, they’ll skip the holiday.

However, as the weary couple is about to discover, skipping Christmas brings enormous consequences and isn’t half as easy as they’d imagined.

A classic tale for modern times, “Skipping Christmas” offers a hilarious look at the chaos and frenzy that have become part of the holiday tradition.

Books are available for checkout at the front desk.
