Breakfast with Santa

Beverly Unitarian Church, 10244 S. Longwood Dr., will host a Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 8 a.m. to noon.

Tickets are $5 and include pancakes, sausage, juice, and milk.

There will also be photo opportunities with Santa, and a holiday shop.

The church will also host its annual Christmas Tree Sale on Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Dec. 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Dec. 14 to 15, from 10:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Blue Island Library

A Holiday Open House will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 6:30 p.m., at the Blue Island Library, 2433 York St.

Join The Friends of the Blue Island Public Library following the Blue Island Light Parade. Doors open at 6 p.m., with festive holiday music by the Choral-Aires, lighting of the tree, and refreshments.

Raffle prizes will be drawn at 8 p.m. Visit the library through Dec. 7 to enter for a chance to win.

Take a break from your worries at De-Stress Fest, on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 6 p.m. Activities include origami, coloring, puzzles, games, and the library’s calming kit are available to help visitors unwind. This event is Autism friendly.

Do your holiday gift wrapping at the library on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 6 p.m. Wrapping paper, ribbon, and other materials will be available to use.

Hand-Held Confetti Cannon, Make the holidays even more exciting by making a spring-loaded confetti cannon on Tuesday, Dec.17, at 7 p.m.

Poetry Night, will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 6 p.m. Come out and share your truth with other poets in a safe space.

Breakfast with Santa

Enjoy a delicious warm breakfast, holiday music, and a visit from Santa at the Oak Lawn Park District’s Stony Creek Restaurant & Banquets, 5850 W. 103rd St., for the Annual Breakfast with Santa event on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 10 a.m.

Bring your appetite, your Christmas list, and a camera for pictures.

Tickets are $11.95 for adults and children. Ages 3 and under are free. Reservation deadline is Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Paddy Homan and the Noble Call

Celebrate the holiday season at Gaelic Park, 6119 W. 147th St., in Oak Forest, on Friday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 p.m., when Paddy Homan and friends will take the audience on a trip back to the “hearth” of an Irish Christmas, filled with songs, stories, rousing music and traditional Irish dancing.

“Tartuffe”

The Drama Group continues its 89th season with the political satire comedy “Tartuffe, In Search of an American Idol.” Performances will be held on Fridays and Saturdays, Dec. 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14, at 7:30 p.m., and matinees on Sundays, Dec. 8 and 15, at 2 p.m., at The Drama Group’s Studio Theatre, 330 W. 202nd St., in Chicago Heights.

“Tartuffe, In Search of an American Idol,” adapted by Robert Caisley and directed by Tony Labriola, tells the story of a wealthy American businessman who entrusts his home, fortune, reputation, wife, and daughter to an up-and-coming politician who is an unscrupulous charlatan.

Tickets are $23 for adults, $21 for seniors, and $17 for students with ID. Group discount rates are also available.

The Center

Afterglow with Gene Infelise and Francesca Franci will perform at a luncheon on Tuesday, Dec. 3, from noon to 2 p.m., at The Center, 12700 Southwest Hwy., in Palos Park.

Afterglow, a dynamic musical duo featuring keyboards and vocals, will perform a program of standards and some Christmas music.

Luncheons cost $24 and advance reservations are necessary.

A Winter Folkarts Workshop: Antique Tin Bells will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m., or 6 to 8 p.m.

Instructor Lois Lauer will show participants how to use tin can lids to create a chain of antique-looking tin bells in a ribboned swag of balsam fir branches for a front door. Attendees are asked to bring work gloves, needle nose pliers, pruners and 12 tin can lids.

The workshop is $20, plus a $5 materials fee.

St. Nick Pancake Breakfast

St. Thomas More Church, 2825 W. 81st St., will hold a St. Nick Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, Dec. 1, after the 10 a.m. Mass, in the church basement. Parking is available in lot behind the church.

A free will donation for breakfast is appreciated. Bring a camera for pictures with St. Nick. Over 40 toys will be raffled during the breakfast.
