The Beverly Arts Center (BAC), 2407 W. 111th St., will host a live taping of the podcast “The Road to Now” on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 3 p.m.
The performance will feature hosts Bob Crawford, of the Avett Brothers, and Dr. Benjamin Sawyer with special guest Erin Welsh, Ph.D., of “This Podcast Will Kill You.”
“The Road to Now” explains the history behind important events and outstanding individuals of today’s world. Created in 2016 by Sawyer and Crawford, a founding member of the Grammy-nominated band The Avett Brothers, “The Road to Now” has brought historians, politicians, journalists and artists to the table for conversations that illuminate the map that brought us to where we are today.
This event will feature conversations with great thinkers, as well as live music and comedy.
Crawford plays bass for The Avett Brothers and is managing director at The Press On Fund. He is also an avid student of history and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in history.
Sawyer earned his Ph.D. in history from Michigan State University in 2013, and he has taught history for over a decade. He is a former Fulbright Fellow and has published articles on the exchange of ideas between the U.S. and Russia in the 20th century. Sawyer is also a stand-up comedian who has performed across the U.S., and he is the writer/host of the live comedy game show “Perfect Timing.”
Welsh is a disease ecologist and epidemiologist studying tick-borne disease transmission in wildlife populations.
