Christ the King (CK) Elementary School will host the CK2050 groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, July 8, from 7 to 7:30 p.m., on the corner of 93rd Street and Hoyne Avenue, to celebrate the renovation work that will soon be underway at CK.
The convent will be gutted and remodeled, and a small addition will be constructed. The new addition will include new kindergarten classrooms; art, music and guidance counselor rooms; media center; and a secure main entrance and office.
The existing main building and renovated convent building will also be connected for easy access between spaces, and an elevator will provide handicap accessibility to all five floors of the school.
Local residents are invited to join the fun and help add the first piece to the time capsule that will be opened in 2050. The event will be held rain or shine.
