With the promotion of Chicago Police Department (CPD) 22nd District Commander Mark Harmon, Richard Wiser, a lieutenant with the CPD investigative response team, will be the commander of the 22nd District.
Harmon, who held his position since June 2015, has been named commander of the vice/asset forfeiture division, CPD Superintendent Eddie Johnson announced on April 30.
According to police, Wiser is a 29-year veteran of the CPD. He has also served a lieutenant in the 2nd and 5th districts, and he worked in the bureau of detectives, including as the instructor for the enhanced weapons training program.
Wiser has a master's degree in public safety administration from Calumet College of St. Joseph.
Johnson said the changes are among many announced by the CPD as a result of several retirements.
