Traditionally, around this time of year members of the parish of St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church in Blue Island usually begin preparations for their biggest fundraiser, St. Benedict Fest.

The annual event spotlights family and fun, offering something for every member of the family. The event would include kid-friendly activities, local food and craft vendors, great entertainment and much more.

However, due to the pandemic and the restrictions placed on social gatherings, parish members are unable to host the annual fest as they have over the past decade.

However, the parish still needs to raise funds for tuition support for the students of St. Benedict Elementary School, so this year, they have decided to do something different.

St. Benedict will hold a virtual St. Benedict Fest Raffle, which will raise scholarship money for its students and award a lucky winner with up to $5,000. Second prize is $1,500, and third prize is $1,000.

Each ticket is $100, and winners will be drawn on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 12:30 p.m. Winners will be contacted and announced via the school’s Facebook page.

To purchase a raffle ticket or for more information, call the school at (708) 385-2016, contact Bri Bridges, St. Benedict School marketing director, at bbridges@stbenbi.org, or visit stbenbi.org.
