The Chicago Police Department issued a community alert on June 7 warning of two residential burglaries in Morgan Park, including one in which a suspect was recorded by a security system.
The first crime occurred on the 2400 block of West 119th Street on June 3 at 2:15 p.m., police said. The subject entered the unlocked side door to the residence and removed televisions from the house and tools from the garage.
The second crime was reported on the 11400 block of South Rockwell Avenue on June 6 on 1:30 p.m., police said.
A person rang the doorbell, and when there was no answer, the person walked to the rear of the house and started kicking the back door.
The homeowner had live-feed surveillance cameras, police said, and remotely activated an alarm that scared the offender away.
The suspect in the second incident is a male, police said.
Police reminded residents to secure all windows and doors to their homes, ensure the entry doors to buildings are locked and maintain an alarm system.
