Charles William Condon Jr., 80, of Beverly, died April 26.

A celebration of his life has been postponed due to the pandemic until family and friends can celebrate properly.

He is survived by his children, Daniel Condon and Leah (Joe) Guillemette; his grandchildren, Kiera Condon, Itasia Wyatt-Condon and Billy, Catie and Mikey Guillemette; his great-grandchildren, Serenity, Cameron, Ava and Leo; his siblings, Bob (Sally) Condon, John Condon and Mary Condon Murray; his friends, Patricia Coultrip and Tim, Julie, Corey, Hailey and Tyler Jansen, as well as his friends in the Salemi Family and the Kiwanis Camp Alumni; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Condon and his wife, Cathy, moved to the parish of St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church in the late 1970s. She died in 1996. Charles Condon was a friendly smile at the local hardware store, neighborhood activities and school athletic events.

Condon dispatched for the Chicago Police Department until his retirement, which brought him back to building cars and to a chance reconnection with his CYO sweetheart, Patricia.

Together, Bill and Pat traveled the world, delighted in each other’s youngest grandchildren and supported each other through trying health situations.

Memorial donations can be made to the Southern Poverty Law Center, 400 Washington Ave., Montgomery, AL 36104, or the Carle Auxiliary Guest House, 602 W. Church St., Urbana, IL 61801.

Everyday gestures of kindness, forgiveness, good humor and warm smiles will truly honor his memory.
