Michael R. McComb Jr., 53, of Beverly, died Sept. 22.
No funeral services have been scheduled at this time. McGann and Son Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Matthew and Erin; his father, Michael Sr.; his brother, James; his aunts and uncles, Janice (Jerry) Banker, Jeanine (Mike) O’Hara, Joe Walsh and Ted Banker; his cousins, BJ, Tina, Bill, Matt and Jill; members of his wife’s family, Pat, Theresa, Brian, Sean, Michael, Colleen, Marty and Moirra; his in-laws, Carol, Mike, Sheila, Maria, Elvia and Kirk; and his nieces and nephews, Owen, Genevieve, Eileen, Megan, Joe, Sean, Kevin, Cecille, Katrina, Liam, Tristan, Juliana, Cyndi, Dillon, Ethan and Josh.
McComb was a proud member of Local 399 International Union of Operating Engineers for over 30 years. He worked at the same downtown location for 30 years and will be missed by the 190 crew.
He was a member of the Holy Name Societies at St. Christina and St. John Fisher. He was a beloved basketball coach for boys and girls teams at St. John Fisher. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He had the most passion volunteering for Misericordia and was an amazing Candy Day coordinator at 103rd Street and Kedzie Avenue.
Besides his great love for family and friends, McComb also loved 16-inch softball. He looked forward to and enjoyed the community and sports of those Wednesday and Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons.
