James “Jim” Henry Kallianis, 92, of Evergreen Park, died Aug. 23.
Funeral services were held Aug. 28 from Curley Funeral Home to Most Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church. Interment followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
He is survived by his children, Mary (Edward) Dahl, James Jr. (Andrea), John (Lynn), Peter (Patricia), Karen (Anton) Lessmeister and Ann Marie; his grandchildren, Patricia (Nicholas) Rojek, Michael, James III, Daniel, Madeline, Emma, Tony, McKenna, Olivia, Rachel, Allison, Thomas, Adam and Matthew; his great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Nicholas; and many nieces and nephews.
Kallianis attended St. Leo Elementary School and Calumet High School, joining the U.S. Marine Corps immediately after graduation. He married Colette Vivian Carey in 1957 in Chicago. They were married for more than 60 years.
Kallianis was proud of his service in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was also proud of his membership in IBEW Local 134 and his many years of work for the Bell Telephone System. He loved to travel with his family, tend his koi ponds and garden, and he was always tinkering with something around the house.
