For 36 years, the Maple Morgan Park Community Food Pantry has been distributing emergency food on Tuesdays and Fridays of each week, and it also provides annual traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday meals for the thousands of disadvantaged families in the Southwest Chicago communities—your silent next-door neighbors who are facing hunger and food insecurity.
No adult and child should go hungry.
Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here before you know it, and as the executive director of the Maple Morgan Park Community Food Pantry, I am asking all our loyal donors, supporters and local businesses to stand with our community food pantry this holiday season. These people and organizations are passionate about eliminating the hunger and food insecurity that are experienced by disadvantaged children, families and older adults in our community.
Your local community food pantry is totally committed to feeding the hungry amongst us and eliminating hunger! But, we can’t do what we do without the support of local residents.
This holiday season, please make a monetary donation and support your community’s food pantry. It takes just $20 to provide a full turkey dinner for a family to enjoy in their home. Your gift of $40 will provide a full turkey dinner for two families on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
I am personally appealing to you for your continued generous monetary donations to provide emergency food every Tuesday and Friday for hungry families and to purchase and distribute the traditional holiday turkey meals for our community’s disadvantaged families and their related household’s disabled adults and children.
No one should have to go to bed hungry this holiday season!
Thanksgiving and Christmas are not joyous times for families in need; they’re just another day of looking into an empty refrigerator. Your generosity makes it possible for the less fortunate to prepare holiday meals in their own homes during times of critical need.
The generosity of our supporters feeds and nourishes our community’s 1,200 disadvantaged families in many positive ways: $20 buys a full turkey holiday meal; $40 buys two full turkey holiday meals; $100 buys five full turkey holiday meals; and $200 buys 10 full turkey holiday meals.
To help someone truly in need for even a moment is noble because it helps lift families out of poverty. Any donation helps the food pantry continue its humanitarian mission to feed the hungry.
The Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons are times when all of us come together to share some of our generosity and monetary contributions with the “less fortunate amongst us” in our service area of the ZIP codes of 60643 and 60655.
The Maple Morgan Park Community Food Pantry is now conducting its 2019 appeal to purchase turkey holiday meals. During November and December, check your mailbox for our beautiful annual holiday meals appeal letter, and please make a donation today.
The annual Thanksgiving turkey distribution will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the food pantry, 11030 S. Longwood Dr.
The food pantry is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m. Everyone is cordially invited to stop in for a tour of the pantry and its mandated Client Choice Program, which is now in full operation.
Please send or drop off your monetary donation payable to the Maple Morgan Park Community Food Pantry, 11030 S. Longwood Dr., Chicago, IL 60643-4012.
