Scott Reeder (Guest Viewpoint, Aug. 28) feels that Gov. Rod Blagojevich didn’t get enough time behind bars, 14 years being too lenient.

He also said there are plenty of people behind bars who deserve to get out early. Who might those be?

Might I remind him that former Gov. George Ryan, convicted of bribery, racketeering and extortion, got only six years. His chief of staff, Scott Fawell, got about four years for similar crimes. They were enriched by their crimes.

Blago never took a dime and got 14 years.

You can commit murder in Illinois and get just 20 years.

The “let Blago rot for another seven years” crowd is no doubt motivated by their deep and profound hatred for the president of the United States, who spoke of shortening the sentence, and that has nothing to do with justice.
