Local residents have often talked about how they’d love to see a “Taste of Beverly.”
An event similar to that is approaching—but besides sampling treats from local shops, people will get to enjoy a good workout.
The inaugural Beverly CoLab Fitness Festival will be Saturday, Aug. 10, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Morgan Park Academy’s field house campus, 2153 W. 112th St.
Attendees can enjoy three 30-minute workouts from local fitness studios, and local businesses will be part of an outdoor festival.
Tickets are $35, $25 for participants 16 to 21 years old, and are being sold online at clients.mindbodyonline.com. Only 500 tickets are being sold, as organizers said they are keeping the crowd at a moderate size for the first event.
Treadfit, Barre It All, Beverly Barre, Beverly Yoga, Blazin’ Cycle, Core Pilates, Fit Code, Froyo to Fitness, Live and Believe, the Morgan Park Sports Center and personal trainer Monica Bright are offering classes in or just outside the MPA field house. Classes will take place inside two gyms, as well as in outdoor tennis courts sheltered by tents.
The festival will feature live music, a tennis clinic hosted by Beverly Hills Tennis Club and a recovery zone.
Other participating businesses include Banis Beets, Belle Up, Beverly Bank, Beverly Ride On, Beverly Tennis, Brow Boutique, Capsule, County Fair, Devin Nutrition, Home Run Inn, Horse Thief Hollow, Impact Physical Therapy, Keir Foot and Ankle Specialists, Little Company of Mary Hospital, Marathon Sportswear, Marlo, Mrs. King’s Art Camp, Murray’s Browse and Brews, Nicky’s Grill and Yogurt Oasis, Open Outcry, Relaxation Station, Running Excels, Solution Graphics, Southtown Health Foods, Tranquility, True North Acupuncture, Turkey, and You Glow Girl.
Organizers invite attendees to “sample, sip and shop” at businesses ranging from fashion accessory shops to restaurants.
Persistent rain seemingly delayed summer for a month, but the Beverly CoLab Fitness Festival will enable residents to pack in a full day of fun in one morning and afternoon.
Business owners are to be commended for collaborating on the event. Many of them are competitors, but they realize that working together helps them all.
Anyone who attends the festival is sure to find something to enjoy.
