Fall registration is going on now at Moraine Valley Community College.
Classes begin on Aug. 19 at its main campus in Palos Hills, and on Aug. 26 at its extension sites in Blue Island and Tinley Park. In addition, the college has more than 100 online classes available this fall.
Students of all ages, backgrounds and experiences attend Moraine Valley, and they can choose from more than 130 degree and certificate programs. The college is well known for delivering an exceptional educational value. Students can earn the first two years of their bachelor’s degree and save thousands of dollars by starting at Moraine Valley and then transferring to a four-year college or university.
The college’s transfer center can help students have a seamless transfer to the school of their choice.
The college serves 26 communities in the southwest suburbs, and its district covers 139 square miles with a population of approximately 400,000 people.
Because Moraine Valley offers quality education taught by expert faculty members, state-of-the-art learning facilities and a vibrant campus culture, it attracts people seeking degrees and certificates, as well as people looking for personal or professional development. In fact, one-third of the district’s high school students choose to go to Moraine Valley to begin their college career.
This year, the college had over 2,800 students graduate—the largest number of graduates in its history.
In addition to its educational opportunities, Moraine Valley’s Fine and Performing Arts Center offers a full array of shows that rival what people can see at downtown Chicago theaters but without the high ticket prices and parking hassles.
Last year was the 25th anniversary of the center, and the line-up of shows for the 2019-20 season includes Squonk presents “Hand to Hand” on Tuesday, Aug. 20, and Wednesday, Aug. 21; Gamelan Cudamani on Saturday, Sept. 21; and the Fabulous Equinox Orchestra on Sunday, Oct. 6.
