Patton Motors

“Everything Automotive!” is the motto of Patton Motor Service, 10209 S. Western Ave., and that includes being a full-service tire center selling new tires from top manufacturers. Word-of-mouth recommendations from satisfied customers are the reason that owner Pat Patton (right) and his staff—nephew John Patton (from left), son Brian Patton and father Jim Patton, a retired U.S. Army brigadier general and retired Chicago police officer with 28 years of service—continue to be the first choice for local residents who need auto repairs. For trustworthy mechanics, call Patton Motor Service at (773) 233-0660.

Although Pat Patton recognizes the value of local advertising, he also knows that the best advertising is a great reputation.

And, Patton’s skills as a mechanic who is dependable and trustworthy are the reason that word-of-mouth recommendations continue to be the best advertising for Patton Motor Service, 10209 S. Western Ave.

Over the past 23 years, Patton, a longtime Beverly resident, has earned the trust of hundreds of satisfied customers, and they aren’t shy about telling others.

“These guys are a throwback to another time,” wrote a recent customer, “when customer service meant something. They’re very honest and honorable businessmen, which is refreshing. I strongly recommend this business.”

Such referrals from satisfied customers are the bedrock of the success of Patton’s family business, which is celebrating its 23rd anniversary of serving the automotive needs of neighborhood residents.

Pat takes pride in operating a repair shop that people trust, and Patton Motor Service is a certified, fully licensed, full-service automotive care center that lives by the motto, “Everything Automotive!”

That includes being a full-service tire center.

Local residents rely on Patton Motor Service for sales and service of all the top manufacturers at great prices. Whatever make or model of vehicle a customer drives, the staff has new tires to fit any budget and performance needs.

Customers at Patton Motor Service become more than just people to do business with; they become friends.

The 23rd anniversary of Patton Motor Service is a testament to the family values that have guided Pat and his staff in serving their customers.

Pat has been fixing cars since he was a teenager growing up in Beverly in a family of eight. When he decided to embark on a career as an auto mechanic, he completed training in that field at the Allied Institute of Technology. Since those days, he’s repaired thousands of vehicles.

Early on in his career, Patton worked for service stations and in the service departments of several auto dealerships. He also repaired vehicles for local residents after work in his garage at home.

That was in addition to getting married at age 18 and raising two sons, Brian and Mike, with his wife, Colleen. Married for 39 years now, they also have a grandson and two granddaughters.

Word quickly spread about Patton’s expertise and reliability, and his customer list grew to the point that he decided to open his own business.

With his son, Brian, and nephew, John, also on staff at the business, the family atmosphere of Patton Motor Service goes even deeper when Pat’s dad, Jim, a retired U.S. Army brigadier general and retired Chicago police officer with 28 years of service, is at the front counter greeting customers or helping out around the shop.

Also on staff is Pat’s cousin, Jackie Johnson.

Patton Motor Service provides complete auto repairs, maintenance and other services, and it uses the latest computer diagnostic equipment to insure that automotive problems are quickly identified and repaired correctly.

Patton Motor Service has one of the lowest per-hour labor rates in the area, and unlike most repair shops, it does not charge extra “shop fees” that inflate a repair bill.

“Every time I go to Patton Motor Service,” said a local business owner and customer, “I walk away feeling like I was fully serviced for a great price. I highly recommend. Pat is a great mechanic.”

Such praise is gratifying for Pat and his family, but for them, it’s just the way they do business at Patton Motor Service.

“We treat people the way we would want to be treated,” Pat said. “We’re proud to have earned our reputation as one of the most reputable automotive repair shops on the South Side of Chicago.”

With such a successful history, Patton Motor Service will continue to take pride in earning the trust and respect of local residents by keeping their vehicles running smoothly.

“We thank our customers and the community for making our 23rd anniversary possible,” said Pat. “We look forward to many more years of serving Beverly/Morgan Park.”
