Game of the Week

Huntley (9-1) at Marist (6-4)

Nov. 9, 1 p.m. (Class 8A)

Rolling into the playoffs after a Week-9 win at Loyola, Marist steamrolled host Glenbard East with a 49-7 victory in the first round.

If the RedHawks want to advance, senior RB Amari Watkins will need to have another big day on the ground. Senior QB Hayden Mikesell is a dual threat as he showed against Glenbard East.

Senior LB Colin Bohanek will need to slow down a Huntley offense that is averaging 41 points.

Glenbard North (7-3) at Mt. Carmel (10-0)

Nov. 9, 1 p.m. (Class 7A)

Junior QB Justin Lynch and the Caravan made short work of Eisenhower in its playoff opener. Top-seeded Mt. Carmel keeps efficiently winning games with strong play on both sides of the ball.

Austin Maciel-Haygood and the Caravan defense will be tested by a solid Glenbard North offense.

St. Rita (7-3) at Sterling (10-0)

Nov. 9, 1 p.m. (Class 5A)

The Mustangs hit the road for a matchup with top-seeded Sterling.

Sophomore RB Kaleb Brown has been a beast for St. Rita, including 228 yards and 4 touchdowns in the playoff opener against Glenbard South.

Brown needs another big day if the Mustangs want to pull off the upset.

South Elgin (9-1) at Br. Rice (6-4), Nov. 9, 5 p.m. (Class 8A)

Sophomore Jack Lausch has stepped in at QB the last few weeks and has the Crusaders offense moving along nicely.

South Elgin’s defense has 6 shutouts and has given up 9 points or less in 8 games. Junior RB Willie Shaw can help Lausch with a big rushing game.
