The Beverly Improvement Association (BIA), in connection with 19th Ward Ald. Matt O’Shea and the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, invites community residents to enjoy cross-country skiing in the Dan Ryan Woods on Sunday afternoons in January and February when there is sufficient snow on the ground, about four inches.
On those days, the BIA has arranged to meet at Beverly Bike and Ski, 9121 S. Western Ave., at 1 p.m., where Paul Weise, Beverly Bike and Ski owner, will have hot chocolate ready to take the chill out of the air.
There is no charge for this event.
The Dan Ryan Woods are gorgeous in winter, and even people who don’t want to ski are invited to walk the woods and then visit Beverly Bike and Ski for a cup of hot chocolate.
Participants can rent cross-country skis, boots and poles from Beverly Bike and Ski for $15 for the day and $25 for the weekend. Snowshoes are also available to rent at the same prices.
For more information, call Beverly Bike and Ski at (773) 238-5704.
