The office of Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias is accepting applications for its summer jobs program offered to college-age students in the Chicago area and in Springfield.
The full-time positions pay $15 per hour, and the program will run June 1 to Aug. 15. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in college or a trade school this fall. The deadline to apply is May 31.
The office will consider applications for the 120 positions—located in Chicago, the suburbs and the Springfield area— on a first-come, first-served basis.
“This is an excellent opportunity for young people who want to gain valuable work experience, learn new skills and earn some extra money this summer,” said Giannoulias.
“Students working at the secretary of state’s office will take on various tasks, from working at DMVs to assisting individual departments with special projects and events.”
Giannoulias noted the jobs would help students build their resumes and become more familiar with their future career interests. The program will also allow the secretary of state’s office to bolster customer-service efforts during the busy summer months.
