Fr. Perez rosary for peace

In a show of community support, Fr. Perez Knights of Columbus members recently gathered with their families and friends at the Hometown police station and prayed the rosary for peace and the safety of police officers.

Fr. Perez Knights of Columbus Council 1444, under the leadership of Past Grand Knight John Curtin, has joined members of other councils to demonstrate support for police officers and to pray for peace by meeting at a local police station and saying the rosary at noon on Saturdays.

The Knights, family members and friends will pray at one station per week including Chicago Police Department districts 8 and 22, Oak Lawn, Evergreen Park and Hometown.

Grand Knight Nate Smith praised Curtin for his efforts.

“John, a native of County Clare, Ireland, is one of our council’s unsung heroes,” Smith said. “He recruits others to address the pragmatic and spiritual needs of his brothers, our parishes and the community. Our council boasts the greatest number of members who are Chicago, Cook County or Illinois State Police officers outside of Knights of Columbus Council 12173 St. Michael the Archangel, patron of police, and the ‘Police Council.’ We respect and support our brother Knights who are the community’s first responders, and we keep their safety and the safety of our neighbors foremost in our thoughts.”
