The Beverly Area Planning Association (BAPA) recently launched its 12 Weeks of Christmas Raffle.
A $20 investment could win a prize valued at $1,500. It will also support dozens of neighborhood businesses and raise funds to keep the community strong.
Every week for 12 weeks, BAPA will offer a new prize package composed of gift certificates, experiences and/or merchandise purchased at full retail price from small businesses and business owners in Beverly/Morgan Park.
Each package is valued at $1,500, and bidding is open for one week for each package.
“At a time when businesses have been so hard hit by the pandemic, BAPA is investing $18,000 in our local economy and promoting the amazing goods and services available right here in our community,” said BAPA Executive Director Mary Jo Viero.
The prize for Week 1 is a private rooftop party for 24 at Open Outcry Brewing Company, 10924 S. Western Ave., which features a special menu, beer pairing and live music.
The drawing for Week 1 will be held on Friday, Oct. 9, at 5 p.m.
“The raffle tickets are affordable so people can really enjoy competing for the packages they would like to win,” said BAPA Business Liaison Brittany Wiley. “People can buy as many tickets as they wish and try their luck each week for all 12 of the packages.”
Winners will be chosen at random each week, and the fun begins all over again for the next week’s competition. Ticket purchases close at 5 p.m. on Fridays for the first 11 raffles and on Wednesday, Dec. 23, for the finale.
“We wanted to create excitement for our small-business community,” Wiley said, “and keep it going through the holiday shopping season.”
Wiley and Viero developed the promotional campaign designed to benefit small businesses and inspire friendly competition for high-value prize packages among area residents.
“Each package has a theme to maximize the fun as well as the value,” Wiley said.
The final prize on Week 12 is a four-course private dinner prepared by Top Chef Joe Flamm including a tablescape and wait service.
Other raffle packages are built around golf at Beverly Country Club; a culinary class and meal experience at Horse Thief Hollow; a “Taste of Beverly” treasure trove of gift certificates from more than 25 local restaurants; a room makeover led by RMH Interior Design; “Vinyl Virtuoso” featuring everything for the audiophile from Beverly Records, “Bike Beverly,” including a high-end bike and accessories from Beverly Bike and Ski; and “Family in Focus” that offers outfits and a family photo portrait with framing.
BAPA hopes to raise enough money from the raffle to cover campaign expenses. Additional funds will go toward the organization’s budget deficit created by loss of special-event income due to the pandemic.
