A robbery was reported in the shopping plaza parking lot in front of 115 Bourbon Street, according to the Merrionette Park Police Department (MPPD).

Police said the robbery was reported on Oct. 6 at 11 p.m. in the parking lot at 3359 W. 115th St., which is in the shopping plaza located at 115th Street and Kedzie Avenue.

As a man returned to his car, he noticed the approach of a black or dark-colored sport-utility vehicle.

The occupants of the vehicle were two black males wearing hoodies and facemasks. The passenger jumped out and demanded the victim’s money, wallet and cellphone.

The robbers then drove east toward Chicago, the eastern border of which is just blocks away from the crime scene.

MPPD officials said in a news release that MPPD detectives have been instructed to dedicate all their resources to solving the case; although specific details of the crime were not announced, police said they wanted to alert residents of the surrounding area.

The shopping plaza includes a chain grocery store and various small businesses.

Police warned residents to be aware.

“We can’t emphasize enough how you must always lock your vehicles,” they said. “Always look around when walking and know your surroundings. We always have patrol units moving in an out of the [shopping plaza] area while on patrol. We will continue to provide patrols in the mall, especially with the holiday season around the corner.”
