A Blue Island man has been charged for a shooting on Interstate 57 near 147th Street, according to the Illinois State Police (ISP).
Kevin Albrecht, 42, faces one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm.
According to ISP officials, officers were notified of the shooting at about 11:20 p.m. on Sept. 10.
The driver and sole occupant of the victimized vehicle, a 42-year-old woman from south suburban Manhattan, was not injured.
Officials said the shooting was related to a domestic disturbance.
Albrecht’s vehicle and the victim’s vehicle were both traveling north, officials said, when Albrecht began shooting.
The victim drove away and flagged down a nearby ISP officer, and Albrecht fled in his vehicle.
The next day, Albrecht was observed by ISP agents fleeing on foot in the Tinley Park area; with the assistance of multiple police agencies and the ISP Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team, he was taken into custody near 159th Street and Ridgeland Avenue.
Charges were approved on Sept. 12.
Albrecht was issued a bond of $250,000, officials said, and he remains in Cook County Jail.
