The Chicago Police Department issued a community alert warning of two area dry-cleaning businesses being victims of armed robberies.
The most recent robbery occurred at 2 p.m. on Nov. 3 on the 11000 block of South Western Avenue.
A 58-year-old female employee was robbed when an unknown male offender walked behind the cash register, displayed a handgun and demanded cash.
The employee complied, and the offender fled on foot. There were no reported injuries.
A robbery also occurred at a dry-cleaning business on the 1400 block of West 103rd Street at 2 p.m. on Oct. 24.
The offender is described as a black male, 20-26 years old, 5’6”-5’8”, with a thin build. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.
Police advised residents to remain calm if confronted by an assailant and to remember unique physical characteristics of the offender.
