Snow much to do in Chicago

Heavy snowfall fell again in the Chicago area from Feb. 14-16, closing schools and businesses. As of 12:40 p.m. on Feb. 16, the National Weather Service reported 13 inches of snowfall in Beverly, making it among the hardest-hit areas in the city. The West Ridge neighborhood, on the Far North Side, received 18.6 inches, and Oak Park and Evanston both received at least 18 inches. Midway International Airport reported 17.7 inches.

Days after a winter storm dumped more than 18 inches of snow on Chicago Feb. 14-15, this vehicle in Morgan Park—and many others in the city—remains buried. Countless local residents spent long hours shoveling out parking spaces, driveways and sidewalks after the storm. The city has already received more than 37 inches of the white stuff during this winter, but with temperatures expected to be above freezing this week, for some people, waiting for the snow to melt is probably better than shoveling it.
