Blue Island Library to install monarch butterfly garden, host Bioblitz

The Blue Island Public Library, 2433 York St., will install a monarch butterfly garden on Saturday, May 1, at 1 p.m., and it invites gardeners to grab a shovel and join the fun. Events will begin with a Blue Island Bioblitz, hosted by the Chicago Zoological Society’s Communities and Nature Program. Following the Bioblitz, participants will start planting the butterfly garden. It was made possible through a grant from the Awesome Foundation, support from the Friends of the Library, plant donations from Monarch Watch and seed donations from the Field Museum as well as local volunteers and gardeners.
