Arts and Blues Jam

Let’s Get Funky Arts and Blues Jam will be held on Saturday, June 12, from 6 to 10 p.m., at Alliance Contemporary, 105th Street and Western Avenue.

The event will feature blues-inspired works by Jon Langford, Dalton Brown, Jason Jones, Dana Todd Pope, Paul Branton and Blake Lenoir.

Musical guests include blues legend Larry Taylor, artist and punk/alt-country troubadour Jon Langford, and “the future of the blues,” Melody Angel.

Music Mondays

Joe Rian and The A.M. Drinkers will perform at the Beverly Arts Center (BAC), 2407 W. 111th St., on Monday, June 21, 7 to 9 p.m.

Singer, songwriter Rian stirs the sounds of roots, country and folk blues.

Blue Island Library

Currently, all events hosted by the Blue Island Library, 2433 York St., will take place online via Zoom, YouTube or Facebook Live unless otherwise noted. Upcoming events include these:

The Farmer is the Man, Thursday, June 17, at 7 p.m. Join contemporary folk songwriter Chris Vallillo to explore folk songs through live music and discover the history of the family farm.

Make mosaic stepping-stones for the new prairie garden on Friday, June 18, at 2 p.m. This event will take place directly outside the library.

Just Dance Now, for young adults, Thursday, June 17, at 3:30 p.m. Join in for an hour of dancing using the Just Dance Now app.

Neighborhood Bingo, Saturday, June 12, at 2 p.m., weather permitting. Kids can go for a walk around the neighborhood while they play bingo.

Popsicle Stick Fish Craft, Monday, June 14, at 3 p.m. Kids can build charming fish out of popsicle sticks. This event meets at the library.

“The Cover of Life”

The Drama Group continues its Staged Readings series with “The Cover of Life,” by R.T. Robinson, directed by Suzanne Ashlock. It is a poignant depiction of all the hopes and regrets that women face, even when they are happy with their choices.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. on June 11 and 12, and 2 p.m. on June 13.
