Queen of Martyrs Catholic Elementary School, in Evergreen Park, is launching its first Jingle Bell 5K Run.

Given the state of the world with COVID-19, this year’s event will be held virtually, meaning runners can complete the course at their own leisure.

The running season will be Dec. 11 to Dec. 24.

The course will start at the Queen of Martyrs School doors and run through the neighborhood, ending at the Queen of Martyrs Holy Family statue on Central Park Avenue, just outside the rectory.

In addition to a fun run, every registered participant will receive a fun race T-shirt.

“We thought this would be a great way to bring the community together while still keeping in line with social distancing,” said Principal “Doc” Mathius. “In future years, when we can all come together for fun events again, this will be a big event with a timed race, divisions, awards and the whole shebang.

“We’re bringing a lot of fun new things to Queen of Martyrs, and our Jingle Bell 5K Run is just one of them.”

The price for the Queen of Martyrs Jingle Bell 5K Run is $25 per participant.
