Chicago Kids Company-Theater for Children (CKC) will host two summer theater camps for children ages 6 to 17.
Participants in its musical theater camp, for kids ages 10 to 17, will be produce a full-scale production of “School House Rock Live! Jr.”
The production is complete with professional lights and sound, and campers will rehearse and perform this one-act musical version of the popular television series.
Musical theater camp will be held July 19 to 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the Stahl Family Theater, 5900 W. Belmont Ave. Cost is $500.
Campers will take part in all aspects of putting on a show, from designing costumes and sets to acting, dancing and singing, in two ticketed performances for family and friends on Thursday and Friday, July 29 and 30, at 7 p.m., at the Stahl Family Theater.
The CKC junior musical theater camp, for children ages 6 to 9, will utilize theater games to teach the building blocks of acting, singing and dancing for those newer to the stage. Campers will prepare for a small-scale performance for family and friends on
the final day of camp.
Junior musical theater camp will be offered in two sessions, July 5 to 9, and July 12 to 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It will be held at Chicago Kids Company, 4124 N. Nashville Ave.
Cost is $200 per session.
All of CKC camps are taught by working theater professionals who are vaccinated against COVID-19. Additionally, upon recommendation from the Center for Disease Control, CKC will be taking all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the corona virus.
