A string of burglaries of residential garages occurred in Beverly in late March and early April, according to a community alert issued by the Chicago Police Department.
Police said the crimes occurred on the 9500 block of South Seeley Avenue on March 24 at 2 a.m.; the 9800 block of South Walden Parkway on April 4-5 between 10:45 p.m. and 11:30 a.m.; the 9800 block of South Seeley Avenue on April 5-6 between 7 p.m. and 8:15 a.m.; the 9600 block of South Seeley Avenue on April 6-8 between 6:30 p.m. and 10:30 a.m.; and the 9800 block of South Damen Avenue on April 7 at 10:35 p.m.
In the most recent burglary, police said, two men were seen attempting to break into a garage by using a pry tool.
They were described as black, 30-40 years old and wearing dark clothing.
Police reminded residents to lock garage doors, as well as any vehicles inside, and to register bicycles at chicagopolice.org or at police stations.
