On Sunday, May 15, Mother McAuley High School graduated 209 women from the Class of 2022 at the Shannon Center, located on the campus of St. Xavier University.
This graduating class joins more than 28,500 alumnae of Mother McAuley.
“We are incredibly proud of our senior class’s academic achievements and successes. They are inspiring young women who are poised to accomplish amazing things in their future academic pursuits,” said Eileen O’Reilly, principal of Mother McAuley.
“We know they received the Lifetime Advantage at Mother McAuley that will set them up for success.”
Infused in the liberal arts, Mother McAuley’s academic curriculum centralizes on six key interdisciplinary skills found throughout all disciplines—from science and math to English and world languages to music and the visual arts.
The 11 graduating seniors with the highest honors include the following:
•Virginia Brennan attending the University of Iowa, graduate of Most Holy Redeemer Elementary School.
•Thea Bueno, valedictorian, attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, graduate of Cardinal Bernadin.
•Samantha Conjar, attending the University of Tennessee, Christ the King.
•Molly Dart, attending Cornell University, Queen of Martyrs.
•Olivia Harris, attending Marquette University, St. John Fisher.
•Annie Justic, attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Christ the King.
•Gianna Kmak attending the University of Miami, Queen of Martyrs.
•Abigail Manos, attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, Noonan Elementary Academy.
•Madeline Obrzut, attending the University of Southern California, St. Linus.
•Abigail Poppish, salutatorian, attending the University of Alabama, St. John Fisher.
•Evelyn Rowan, attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, St. Cajetan.
In addition, Maggie Nolan received the Sr. Brian Costello Scholarship Award. Nolan will attend Marquette University and graduated from Christ the King.
The graduating seniors elected Cece Antonietti as the student speaker. She will attend the University of Kansas and graduated from Christ the King.
Mother McAuley also announced that two members of the Class of 2022 received the prestigious Chick Evans Scholarship. Anna Fagan and Grace Novick will attend the University of Illinois-Chicago.
“Anna and Grace emulate the characteristics of a McAuley graduate, and their passion and commitment to their academics and caddie programs have been recognized,” said O’Reilly. “We are proud of their accomplishments, receiving the Evans Scholarship and their future collegiate pursuits.”
Fagan and Novick join more than 100 other Chicago-area recipients of the Evans Scholarship for their strong caddie record, excellent academics, demonstrated financial need and outstanding character. The Evans Scholarship is valued at more than $120,000 over four years.
Fagan attended St. Christina Elementary School and is a caddie at Ridge Country Club.
Thomas Haffner, of Ridge Country Club, praised Fagan’s commitment as a caddie.
“Anna is one of the most persistent and quietly confident caddies—and people—I know,” Haffner said. “Resilient and not afraid of new experiences, Anna is everything a teacher, coach or caddie manager could ever want in a young person. I would lay odds that most of us look back on our younger selves and wish we were more like her. It was no surprise that Anna won the Evans Scholarship; her work on the course and in the classroom has been fantastic, and to know Anna is to know that one day she will be successful in the field she chooses.”
Novick attended Most Holy Redeemer Elementary School and caddies at Beverly Country Club.
John Ross, of Beverly Country Club, said Novick helped more than just the golfers.
“She is an excellent, hard-working caddie who is not just there for herself,” Ross said. “She is great with the other young female caddies.”
