A suspect was arrested shortly after a robbery at a business in Mt. Greenwood, but he was not charged in connection with the incident and instead was taken into custody on a Cook County warrant.
According to the Chicago Police Department Office of News Affairs, a robbery was reported at about 11:20 a.m. on July 23 at a retail store on the 3200 block of West 111th Street.
Witnesses said two unknown males entered and took merchandise before fleeing in a silver sedan.
Officers on patrol observed the vehicle on the 10300 block of South Western Avenue, and one offender exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot; the vehicle drove away in an unknown direction.
The man, Marquis Lumaz, 27, of the 6000 block of South Campbell Avenue, was taken into custody on the warrant, police said, but was not charged for the robbery.
The complainant, police said, refused to press charges.
