Linda Lee Owens, 79, formerly of Beverly, died June 27.

Funeral arrangements are private.

She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Chris Seidler) Hersperger, Karen (Kevin) McKenna, Kristen Knost and Jessica Anne (Kurt) Chiang; her grandchildren, Krista (Mike), Anthony (Aimee), Troy, Nicholas and Alec (Daniel); her great-grandchildren, Anna, Moira, Eloise and Jillian; her brother, Bill Owens; and her niece, Marcie.

Owens was a proud graduate of Academy High School (1960) in Erie, Penn. She began her professional career as a certified nursing assistant at Doctor’s Osteopathic Hospital in Erie. Her whip-smart propensity for science and technology followed her to New York where she worked as a project manager for Teledyne LeCroy and then to Chicago where she was CAD systems manager for the Chicago Department of Public Works–Architecture and then as senior systems engineer with the Chicago Police Department, supervising the digitalization of the 911 emergency system.

Owens was an avid fine-arts enthusiast, especially history, music and architecture. She was a volunteer docent in Chicago at Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio and Ridge Historical Society.

She was a tenacious, striking woman who ironed all of her clothes. Even in retirement, her quest for knowledge and beauty was unstoppable. Hundreds of hours were spent embroidering flowers, crafting dollhouse furniture and serving the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston as a tour leader with Trinity Church Boston and Boston on Foot.

The family is grateful for the community of Morville House for their company and care, especially Adrienne Polk.

Memorials may be made to the Ken Lawrence Fund at Morville House, 100 Norway St., Boston, MA 02115.
