Helen Marie Costello, 75, of Beverly, died June 3.
Funeral services were held June 8 from Donnellan Funeral Home to St. Barnabas Roman Catholic Church. Interment followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
She is survived by her brother, John (Mary); her nieces and nephews, Anita (Greg) Hankins, Bartholomew Costello III, John (Danielle) Costello Jr., Margaret (James) Polcyn, Colleen (James) Bailey, Michael (Elise), Daniel and William (Sarah) Costello; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Costello was a retired comptroller at Evergreen Kia, which supported her like family long after her retirement.
Costello was a fiercely independent, South Side Irish Catholic who told it like it is, a trait many claim yet few possess. While independent, she maintained strong relationships with family, friends and co-workers. She loved dogs, but only from shelters. She was deeply religious and left us to meet her Maker; we wish the Maker well, but heaven may never be the same again. She will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to PAWS Chicago, 1997 N. Clybourn Ave., Chicago, IL 60614.
