Letters to the Editor

Thank you, 19th Ward Ald. Matt O’Shea and 19th Ward volunteers for the second vaccine clinic at Mt. Greenwood Park.

Tristan Angus’s organizational skills are outstanding. There were many compliments from the residents who arrived for their second shot.

While there, an idea ocurred to me. Why not have our high schools, before school ends, administer the vaccine to their students? It can be done if the Chicago Public Schools and the private high schools are willing. I’m sure the ward staff would assist, and they have the experience and energy to do it. There are tons of teens in our community.

Please, don’t let the school bureaucracy stop this. I recall in elementary school that our whole second grade was given a sugar cube in a tiny paper cup. We received the polio vaccine quickly, easily, safely and where we were at.

Let’s get this done.
