Everything’s Relative Salon is well known as an Aveda Concept salon that offers complete hair and beauty services, but the mission statement of this family business proves the salon is about more than just good looks.
Everything’s Relative Salon, 10548 S. Western Ave., and owner Joan Each Rowan have achieved success due to their commitment to the community, the environment and Aveda. Rowan is a dedicated environmentalist who is guided by the mission statement of Everything’s Relative.
“Our mission is to continue to provide excellent guest care through the use of teamwork, education and product sustainability. We strive to provide a beautiful, clean and relaxing atmosphere for our guests as well as our team. Our dedication to eliminating waste in a sustainable fashion and choosing not to use unnecessary harmful chemicals sets us apart. We will continue to grow our employees through education and outreach to the community. We will continue to support the organizations that are important to Everything’s Relative and our community. It is not only our responsibility; it is our passion.”
Everything Relative is proud to responsibly recycle 95 percent of all its salon waste through Green Circle Salons.
Everything’s Relative Salon also supports many worthy organizations.
It sold Double Good popcorn, June 14-18, to raise money for the Alliance for the Great Lakes. Double Good popcorn is gourmet and fits into many diets, and the salon raised $1,123 for the Alliance for the Great Lakes, which Rowan has strongly supported in the past.
In February, as a Valentine’s Day gift to the teachers at St. Cajetan and Southwest elementary schools, Everything’s Relative donated 20, $80 gift cards to each school for nail services, and the teachers were able to buy the cards for $20 a piece; $410 was raised for Turpin Cares/The Free Store, and $410 was raised for the Evergreen Park Food Pantry.
An in-salon raffle in January enabled the salon to donate $1,000 to the Maple Morgan Park Food Pantry, and in March, the salon sent the pantry another $400.
Everything’s Relative Salon also supports other worthwhile groups such as the Beverly Area Planning Association, Road Home program for veterans, the Beverly Area Arts Alliance, the Beverly Arts Center, A New Direction, Christmas Without Cancer, Sparks of Light, Pat Mack’s Pack, Elim Christian Services and Misericordia Heart of Mercy.
Everything’s Relative, is not commission-based. Instead, it is team-based, meaning every stylist is paid hourly. This cultivates community instead of competition and gives stylists the freedom to focus on the business of taking care of each guest instead of being tied to filling a chair.
