Hosting ND on Sept. 10, Mt. Carmel and its ground game delivered a huge day with 230 total yards and 6 touchdowns. Darrion Dupree (92 rushing yards, 2 TD), Maurice Davis (2 TD), Enzo De Rosa (TD) and Damarion Arrington (TD) led the rushing attack.

Junior quarterback Blainey Dowling threw for 93 yards and 2 TD, with Davis (42 receiving yards), Denny Furlong (receiving TD) and Arrington (receiving TD) his main targets.

Danny Novickas (9 tackles, TFL), Parker Startz (8 tackles, TFL), J.T. Harris (7 tackles), Nick Naujokas (6 tackles), Asher Tomaszewski (5 tackles), Owen Schickel (5 tackles), Charlie Fordon (3 TFL, fumble recovery), Elliott Lewis (forced fumble) and Jaden Bossie (interception) led the defense.

The Crusaders carried the ball 34 times for 227 yards and 5 touchdowns on Sept. 10 in the CCL/ESCC crossover victory. Tommy Bennett (92 rushing yards, TD), Jack Lausch (57 rushing yards), Aaron Vaughn (52 rushing yards, 2 TD), Khary Shaw (rushing TD) and Da’Kobie Wordlaw (rushing TD) led the way.

Lausch finished 12 of 16 in passing for 144 yards and a TD, a 30-yard connection with Liam Lyons. Wordlaw (47 receiving yards) and Marty O’Keeffe (31 yards) also contributed.

On defense, Henry Ivers piled up 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Rolando Sepulveda (sack) added 5 tackles.

Evergreen Park 40

Host Evergreen Park (3-0, 1-0) opened its South Suburban Conference Red division schedule on Sept. 10 with a big home win. Sophomore QB Deijon Feliciano continued his hot start, completing 9 of 12 passes for 104 yards, 3 TD and an interception. 

He connected with Elijah Matthews (2 catches, 50 yards, TD), Michael Torres (5 catches, 35 yards, TD) and Paul Westphal (2 catches, 19 yards, TD) for a touchdown apiece.

Leading the EP ground game was senior running back James Williams, who finished with 13 carries for 87 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Senior defensive lineman Aidan McDermott also had a pick-6 for EP, returning the interception 69 yards for the score. The Mustangs have not given up a point through 3 games, outscoring their opponents by a 101-0 combined score. 

Marian Catholic 33

Bloom Township 6

The Battle of Chicago Heights on Sept. 10 was all Marian Catholic (2-1) as sophomore running back Randall Nauden had a huge day out of the host Spartans’ backfield with 16 carries for 126 yards and 4 touchdowns (6, 9, 37 and 3 yard runs).

Junior QB Kyle Thomas threw for 62 yards and a TD, a Dylan Ross 5-yard TD reception, and also ran for 52 yards for Marian.

Senior cornerback Isaiah Johnson had an interception for the Spartans.

St. Ignatius 21 

St. Laurence 0 

Junior running back Vinny Rugai led St. Ignatius (3-0) on Sept. 10 in Burbank in the CCL/ESCC crossover win, finishing with 21 carries for 93 yards and 2 touchdowns (7 and 1 yards).

Senior Albert Connor scored on an 18-yard run as the Wolfpack scored all three of their touchdowns in the first half and never looked back. Jake Lo (49 rushing yards) and Jack Cronin (3 catches, 51 yards) also chipped in offensively.

Senior quarterback Brandon McCoy led St. Laurence (1-2) with an 11-of-17 passing day for 118 yards, connecting with Matt Ochoa (5 catches, 67 yards) and J.J. Raya (4 catches, 31 yards). Sophomore Aaron Ball added 5 carries for 38 yards.

Zack Siebenaler (8 tackles, sack), Connor Cleary (6 tackles), Thomas Toefiels (6 tackles) and Anthony Petan (5 tackles) paced the St. Laurence defense.

Ag School 16 

Bogan 14 

Senior Darion Caldwell did double duty for the Ag School (2-1) in its Public League Illini Great Lakes opener on Sept. 10 at Gately Stadium, sealing the game with an interception with 2 minutes remaining. He added 80 rushing yards on 15 carries and 8 tackles and 2 tackles for a loss on defense. 

QB Thomas Randle Jr. threw for 120 yards and 2 TD, connecting with Javion Johnson for a 60-yard TD and James White for a 25-yard strike.

Marist 28

Nazareth 14

Dontrell Jackson threw for 100 yards with a TD and two interceptions and had a big day on the ground with 14 carries for 143 yards and a TD. Jaylen Johnson (18 carries, 60 yards, TD) and Alonzo Manning (7 carries, 50 yards, TD) chipping in to the ground game.

Ak'Tavion Agee had two big catches for 48 yards and a TD for host Marist (3-0) on Sept. 10 in the CCL/ESCC crossover.

Marist improved to 3-0 with the CCL/ESCC crossover home win.

John Nestor (9 tackles, forced fumble), Sam Laurencell (7 tackles, INT, fumble recovery), Corey Rashad (6 tackles, TFL), Jimmy Rolder (6 tackles, TFL), Jake Stefanos (interception), Jayson Harris (forced fumble) and Matteo Filippo (fumble recovery) led a balanced defensive attack.

Morgan Park 28

The nonconference game at Gately Stadium was called late in the second quarter when a crowd of several hundred people rushed the gate. 

Morgan Park improved to 2-1 with the win.

B.J. Hall had a receiving TD from Kyle Clayton on a trick play in the first half for St. Rita (1-2) in the CCL/ESCC crossover loss on Sept. 11 in Wilmette.

Joseph Kingsburgy (12 tackles), Johnny Schmitt (10 tackles), Tadhg Scanlon (8 tackles), Jake Lehtinen (7 tackles), Matt Kingsburgy (5 tackles, fumble recovery) and Hall (5 tackles) paced the defense.

Carmel 35 

Leo 32 

Senior quarterback James E’Akels put together a monster game for Leo (1-2) in the CCL/ESCC crossover road game on Sept. 10 in Mundelein, passing for 282 yards and 2 touchdowns and running for 2 more scores.

Junior wide receiver Kevin Jackson was a favorite target for E’Akels, totaling 5 catches for 152 yards and a TD for the Lions. Jackson also caught a 2-point conversion and delivered with an interception on defense. 

Joliet Catholic 48 

De La Salle 14 

Sophomore QB Matthew Cleggs ended with a 15-of-27 passing day for 219 yards, 2 TD and an interception for De La Salle (2-1) in the CCL/ESCC crossover game on Sept. 10 at Joliet Memorial Stadium. 

Senior wide receiver Ethan Merrit-Clark had 4 catches for 125 yards and 2 TD.
